Profile of the End Time Heresies

.
.... Pulpit of the Last Days offers a systematic, open discipleship forum with a very intentional focus on Jesus. But between these basic sub- jects, or as occasion allows, we invite you to investigate our break-out modules, which can be accessed through links in the right-hand column.
.
.... The End Time Church Module is about the teachings we will hear in the church in the final days before Christ returns to the earth. On one hand we’ll see the most Christ-centered teachings the church has ever known, but on the other we’ll see the end time heresies. The rest of that module built a framework for the former, but what about those other teachings?
.
....
This module offers an overview of the end time heresies, complete with a description of false teachers and their ministry. It also discusses their victims of choice. Some of the things described in this module may even sound familiar, so as you are reading, bear in mind any ministries over which you've had doubts and see if they match this profile.

  • Hint: look for the role that psychology has played in the teachings of the church in the years since WWII.

  • As I said in the comments in the module itself, this description is frighteningly bang-on!

  • A good post Loren. I don't know why this isn't sinking in today?
You spoke well of those who cloak to gain a vice. This was good as well and again very timely>The end time heresies will address some of those same gospel subjects, but will offer an alternatives means for accomplishing the same things (as in Gal 2:21).<

  • Loren, what biblical proof do you have that prior to Christ's return "we’ll see the most Christ-centered teachings the church has ever known"?

  • Hi Jonathan,

Of course, it's only one side of the story. These Christ centered teachings and the end time heresies will actually exist simultaneously, in two opposing schools of thought.

Here's a link that will explain the Christ-centered teachings in more detail.

  • Loren,

Can you explain some more you belief that Romans 8 is referring to the predestination of all people. That seems very hard for me to render in my reading of it, as it is referring directly to those who love him those who have been called according to his purpose......

If I have misrepresented your statements please forgive me.

Blessings in Christ and if you don't have time to write I understand you can continue later.

  • Hi Shawn,

I think predestination is a widely misunderstood subject. But when you look for Jesus in it, you get an entirely different perspective. Here's a link with some further thoughts and specifics.

Short answer: if you look at what the Bible has to say about predestination, you'll see at least three different descriptions emerge. Furthermore, these descriptions appear to be divisible on a time line, having the overall appearance of 'phases'.

The first 'phase' is very general and applies to all. The second phase only applies to those who (as a result of this) are called. The third phase, in Romans 8:29, is only for those who are already Christians. So you are correct in saying that the verse only applies to those who love God, who are the called according to His purpose. In this particular sense it does not apply to all, but to Christians only.

Hope that's not too confusing. But if you have some time, the link may do a better job of explaining things.
