The End Time Church
.
.... If God brought you down through the ages, through a corridor of time, to the church of the last days, what would you find? How would the true Christians of those days conduct themselves? What would be their focus, and what challenges would they face from the adversary? Most importantly, what would be the teachings you would actually hear being taught from the pulpit in the final days before Christ returned to the earth?
.
.... The Bible foretells those teachings in detail, both good and bad. Here we will find the last, great movement of the Holy Spirit leading up to the time of the end; and tragically, the last great challenge of the enemy will emerge as well, leading to the great falling away.
.
.... In this module we present the ‘big picture’ of the true church and its vision, but the foundational teachings of this church are contained here, on Pulpit of the Last Days. Wow! This is so pivital in understandind what is happening today. Brother you are opening up understanding to this parable. It truly baffles me why people can't see it; but as you say they have no oil in their lamps. The Holy Spirit within to open up understanding of the Scriptures(the lamp) Amen brother! Amen!
you know I saw a verse I think in Psalms 119 yesterday that said, "I know more than my teachers as I meditate on thy testimonies all day!" anyway it was something like that. Truly this happens and then it becomes a frustrating thing when men around you seem to have loyalty to their denominations and try to balance the two...but i grieve as I am beginning to wonder if the Spirit of God is there.
You also summed it up here>Denominations have become institutionalized in the fabric of modern Christianity, and they are simply too ingrained to ever go away. But this does not mean they will never change. In fact, they will change dramatically. In the same parable, there may be ten virgins; but the church, as a whole, is represented by two mind sets. And one of those two has finally gotten it right.<
So true! So true!
You know there is a form of godliness today; yet the power seems to be absent.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the word of support on parables. You'd be surprised how many comments I've gotten that start out, 'Now, you can't take parables that seriously!' or even, 'You're manking a serious mistake by trying to make points from a parable!'
Some Christians think parables are only morales, and the only point is the overall point at the end. They ignore all the rest of the information the parables contain.
Frankly, it's hard for me to respect a 'scholarship' that dismisses the Lord's words so easily. But rather, in my experience, how well a Christian understands the parables is a pretty good indicator of their whole walk with the Lord:
"He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
"For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."
(Matt 13:11-12)

Gregory, btw, last week I ran into an amazing fellow who is sort of your mirror image. He grew up Catholic and switched the other way. He has done extensive research on the Petros/Petra question, and found that a great many of the early Christian fathers agreed with the interpretation I gave you. This included Origen, Augustine, Athanasius, Pope Gregory the Great, and over a dozen others. He has documented their opinions here if you would like to see them.

Loren,
I understand and Jesus himself in the whole gospel of John got a whole lot of grief and opinions and anger reflected at him. Brother, you are dead on with respect to the Oil being the Holy Spirit and the Lamp being the word. There is no other interpretation. You are simply helping others to see, but as Jesus himself said, "This knowledge is hidden from the wise and prudent and revealed only to babes.Never stop being a child in His eyes. What is amazing is that you are trying to help men escape the bondage of mens thoughts and impressions and ecouraging them to examine all this for themselves without denominational influence. oh how we love our bondage! Hey, I am changing the description under my template as I feel this is such an important point. The battlefield is the mind and may the Lord free us from every thought and imagination that exalts itself against Yeshua alone.

Hi Brian,
Yes, it's amazing that Christians don't have a greater impulse for the liberty with which Christ has set us free (Gal 5:1). Paul says there can be a weak and beggarly part within us, as humans, that actually desires to be in bondage again (Gal 4:9). Somehow, a timid part of us just wants to turn back to Egypt.
I read the new subtitle on your blog and it pretty much says it all. If we trust the Lord, He will be our teacher.

Loren,
Thanks! you do inspire me as well as confirm much of what the holy Spirit has impressed me with. I believe this is more of what the Lord ment when He said where two or three are together...there am I.
